On friday one of the schools in Bhekulwandlee had a soccer celebration at the local football field as the school holidays and world cup draw near. The key part of the celebrations was a soccer match between the teachers and the gogo's. Gogo is Zulu for grandma. The Gogos of Bhekulwandee and beyond are amazing women many of whom are now caring for young grandchildren as they have lost their children (the parents) to AIDS. They are such an awe inspiring bunch which can be seen here in their willingness to get involved in this match to support there grandchildren and the school - not many grandma's in the UK would be up for a soccer game!

Kick off

This was no mild match

Jubilation (and pitch invasion) at the first goal - for the teachers team

The teachers won the match 3-0 but those gogo's ran up and down and did their bit. It was a great atmosphere and an amazing thing to be able to be part of
